Dr. Thau, who was recently sworn in as President of the American Optometric Assocation at Optometry's Meeting in Boston last month, stated in the letter that "S 2334 will provide long overdue and much needed access to medical eye care for families around the Commonwealth by eliminating the harmful and out-of-date restrictions preventing Doctors of Optometry from utilizing their extensive medical eye care training to treat their patients who suffer from glaucoma".
Noting that this bill is long overdue, and that this legislation has passed in every other state more than 10 years ago, Dr. Thau urged Speaker DeLeo to move the bill for a vote and to remove unnecessary barriers to care for glaucoma patients in this state.
