The bill would allow glaucoma patients in Massachusetts to be treated by their primary care optometrist. All other 49 states, federal territories, Veterans Administration hospitals, and military branches allow this. Massachusetts is alone in prohibiting glaucoma treatment to optometrists, and has been for over a decade. S.2334's passage is long overdue, and we are all hoping that tonight it will pass.
We wish the MSO leadership the best of luck in the final hours of this legislative session.
